From November 18-21 VIALATVIA enterprises participated at the “Transport of Russia” exhibition which occurred within Russian Transport Week. Latvian delegation was headed by Uldis Reimanis, Deputy State Secretary, Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia.

In the framework of the event, Uldis Reimanis took part in Yevgeny Dietrich’s, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, organized business breakfast for transport ministers and business representatives. They discussed the general progress and modernization process of infrastructure and other related questions about transport and logistics sector.

Additionally, between the events a protocol was signed of the Latvian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission Transport Working Group’s 22nd session, which took place in the format of video conference. Protocol was signed by heads of Transport Group - Uldis Reimanis, Deputy State Secretary and Yuri Petrov, Assistant Minister of Transport.

In the framework of the forum, representatives from Latvia participated in plenary debate on "Transport – Bases of Eurasian integration "

The conference addressed issues related to the transport infrastructure’s construction, quality of transportation, increasing accessibility and security, as well as issue of digitalisation of transport services.

Transport Week exhibition was spread over 3,700 square meters, where more than 100 participants showcased their achievements, including, federal agencies, government corporations, private business companies, foreign business representatives, and other transport related companies.

Latvian transport sector took part under a joint brand VIA LATVIA, and  was represented by Latvian Railways, Freeport of Riga, Liepaja SEZ, Port of Ventspils. Several members of Latvian private transport companies also attended forum and exhibition. This year Latvian enterprises participated in the exhibition for the sixth time.

 During the visit, Latvia’s transport industry representatives met with Latvia’s Ambassador to Russia, Māris Riekstiņš, where issues of the sector and bilateral cooperation between Latvia and Russia were discussed.
