General cargo in the cargo turnover of Ventpils Freeport in 2016 amounted to 2.47 million tons that was 13% of the total cargo turnover. The cargo of this type tends to increase rapidly. The key product groups in this segment are ro-ro and timber.


Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals (NNVT)

The most modern container and ro-ro cargo terminal in the Baltic Sea region. Belgium–Latvian joint venture is equipped with the most modern equipment to provide loading, discharge and terminal services.
The possible re-loading capacity is 150,000 TEU and 1,500,000 tons of general cargo. The well-developed railway infrastructure allows NNVT to store 233 wagons at the same time and process 126 wagons providing loading / discharging to several railway tracks. The terminal has 175,000m² open, 5,200m² closed warehouses and 14,700 m² freezer areas. The company has 120 container refrigerator processing connection spots (and it is possible to increase this number to 250). In the territory of NNVT, customs and other authorities are located to ensure smooth service provision.

Reefer Cargo Terminal

The terminal is the largest warehouse–terminal for frozen foodstuffs in the Baltic States. The building of the terminal was commissioned in the summer of 2011. The terminal is Class A warehouse–refrigerator with modern administration and auxiliary premises. The building provides seven freezers with the possible temperature of -18 to -30, depending on the specifics of product. There is also a separate chamber with higher temperature from +5 to +12. The premises are equipped with the new generation electronic ventilation systems, temperature and humidity level regulators, air circulation have been installed ensuring compliance with high hygiene standards at the warehouse. The area of the warehouse is 12,000m2. The total possible capacity of the terminal is 150,000 tons of cargo per year.

SIA Ventplac

The key regions of operations of Ventplac include ports of the Baltic and North Sea in Scandinavia, Germany and United Kingdom. Ventplac specialises in storage and transshipment of round timber, timber and its products and it is a significant part of the logistics chain of the Scandinavian celuloses producers.

Since 2014, Ventplac has been operating at the 12ha large Dry Bulk Terminal. The infrastructure of the terminal include two berths (7.1m deep and 130m long), as well as mixed type surface covering 12.9ha large field with motor vehicles and railway access roads. The terminal’s capacity is 800,000 tons per year, it is provided for the  Minibulkers type ships (up to 10,000 tons DW).
